GROWING YOUR PERSONAL PRAYER LIFE
YOUR CREATOR LOVES YOU
Whether you are completely new to prayer or are a seasoned veteran, we have resources to help you plant seeds and nurture your relationship with God through a deeper personal prayer life. Isn’t it amazing that the creator of the universe desires a deep, loving relationship with YOU?
WHAT IS PRAYER?
Simply put, prayer is a conversation with God.
Some prayer follows a formula, other prayer comes from the heart as we speak to our Lord and listen for his response. There are countless ways to approach prayer; it can be done in a single moment or over a long period of time, silently or aloud, alone or in a group, reading Scripture or sitting silently before the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration. The options are endless and, when they are done with a sincere desire to know God, bear much fruit.
THE MISSION
The Bible story “The Parable of the Sower” (Matthew 13:1-29, John 4:7-15) asks us to consider the condition of our heart and its readiness to receive God’s Word. By creating a practice of personal prayer, we simultaneously build our relationship with God and cultivate that “good soil.” Every encounter we have with him in prayer deepens this friendship, which allows us to joyfully hear and understand his Word, let it take root, and yield a harvest many times over.
At Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration has been an integral part of our parish culture for decades. Not only has it been an immense blessing that draws individuals close to our Lord, but it has allowed the life of our entire community to flourish in holiness.
We know that prayer is the force behind that deeper relationship with Christ, and we greatly desire to help you experience his love in this way. Many resources are available to you for education in prayer, along with opportunities to apply it to your life, and numerous inspired individuals are ready to walk with you.

DEDICATE INTENTIONAL TIME TO PRAYING EVERY DAY
You may find a specific time of day that is best for your schedule and helps you to “stick with it.” Particular forms of prayer might resonate with where you are in your faith journey to help you build consistent, positive habits. Prayerfully consider taking a weekly Adoration Hour, and commit to intentional time with God through daily prayer practice. Allow yourself to be steeped in his love!
KEEP GOING, KEEP GROWING
You’re off to a great start with this step toward a deeper personal prayer life. Share with a faithful friend or support person what works for you, and ask for ideas where you need help or encouragement. God is overjoyed that you’re making time to open your heart to him. He will provide!
TESTIMONIAL
KATIE MAGNUSON
“My adoration journey began in high school, with God clearly in the lead. Unbeknownst to me, the quiet chapel in my town where I went to pray was a cloistered monastery with daily Eucharistic Adoration! Since that time, I have made a point to find an adoration chapel in every city that I have lived in. I am drawn to the peace found in those beautiful chapels, as it is the peace of Christ!
Indeed, all of prayer is a relationship with God, but this is the quintessential truth of Adoration: we are in the presence of the Eucharist, which is the body of Jesus Christ.
One of the greatest mysteries of all time is that Jesus not only humbled himself to come as a man who was to be slain for our sins, but also became the Bread from Heaven to stay with us on earth. In this way, we are never truly parted from him! Eucharistic miracles abound and help us intellectually comprehend the True Presence, but it is wholly another thing to know it in your heart. And this is the work of Adoration – the heart-changing grace that allows us to go deeper into communion with Him. I have received many gifts from the Lord that I didn’t even think to ask for. There is nothing to lose and so much to gain by sitting with the God who created you, knows you, and loves you.”
